LEFORD Green and Kimour Bruce clinched NCAA Division II Outdoor titles weekend as Anna-Kay Campbell held on to the runner-up spot at the Irwin Belt Track Complex, in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Green of Johnson C Smith University outclassed the field with a personal best 48.76 seconds to take the 400m hurdles, comfortably ahead of the Lincoln University duo of Steve Banton, 49.35 seconds, and Sabiel Anderson, 49.82 seconds.

The 23-year-old Green, a Bridgeport High and Kingston College past student, threatened Bershawn Jackson’s meet record of 48.50 seconds set on May 27, 2004.

In the 400m, however, Green placed second in a time of 45.68 seconds, as St Augustine’s Josh Scott triumphed in 45.11 seconds, while Angelo State’s James Howell finished third timing 45.95 seconds.

Camperdown High past student Bruce clocked 10.37 seconds into a negative wind (-0.5m/s) to capture the 100m, beating Cal State-Los Angeles Damien White, 10.46 seconds, and Abilene Christian University’s Desmond Jackson, 10.47 seconds.

Twenty-three-year-old Bruce, a junior at Lincoln University, earlier in the year added the 60m NCAA Division II indoor title to his growing collection of medals when he ran a personal best 6.66 seconds at Albuquerque, New Mexico.

This season has been an excellent for Bruce, who last year was fourth at the 60m indoor final and and third in the 100m final.

A senior at Lincoln University and past student of St Andrew High, Campbell leapt 6.08 metres for the silver in the long jump, won by teammate Racquel Anderson, who also registered 6.08 metres, with Angelo State’s Aisha Adams third with a leap of 6.04 metres.
