Young Boyz kickstart new training camp
A second training camp has been called by national senior team coach Theodore Whitmore in preparation for Jamaica’s participation in the Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Games to be held in Puerto Rico beginning July 22.
CONCACAF has announced that participants must be born on or after January 1, 1989 and the tournament will be treated as an Under-21 event.
Jamaica have been drawn alongside Panama, Mexico and St Vincent, while the other group will comprise Trinidad and Tobago, Costa Rica, Belize and host Puerto Rico. The schedule for the matches will be announced shortly.
The squad was due to start yesterday and will end on Friday.
Whitmore continues to use these camps at this stage of the preparation to look at some players before finalising his squad.
Twelve players called to the previous camp have been re-called and an additional thirteen players have been called to allow the technical staff to assess them.
Among the new invitees are 16-year-old goalkeeper Odean Clarke (Muschett High), Carl Reid, Devon Williams (St George’s High School), Oraine Braham (Cornwall College), Allan Ottey (St James High), Dwayne Brown (Bellefield High), Junior Neil and Romena Bowie (Manchester High).
