Firehouse get warm in St James Div Two
TUCKER, St James — Firehouse scored their first win in the St James FA Guardian life Division Two competition when they edged previously unbeaten Root House 2-1 in a Zone B game at Tucker on Wednesday.
All three goals were scored in a 14-minute period in the first half as Firehouse edged past Jackson Town into fourth place on goal difference, with both teams on three points.
Marvin Leslie shot Firehouse into the lead in the 23rd minute, but Kashan Thompson levelled for Root House in the 30th.
Firehouse did not have to wait long for what turned out to be the winner as Gavin Brown scored in the 36th for the ‘firemen’, who avenged an earlier loss.
At Albion, Albion Youths took over the lead in Zone A after a 3-1 win over Heights, thanks to a second-half double from Orlando Campbell.
Hurber Brown’s 37th-minute strike gave Albion the lead, but Kingsley Dawkins made it 1-1 at half-time when he scored for Heights in the 40th.
Campbell’s brace, however, made the difference when he netted in the 62nd and 79th for Albion, who improved to seven points from three games — one ahead of Hugs United.
