Windalco, Mico clash in Open League semis
MINSERAL HEIGHTS, Clarendon — Defending champions Windalco will today seek to keep alive their hope of winning back-to-back Jamalco Open League titles when they take on newcomers Mico University College in the semi-final at Mineral Heights, starting at 5:00 pm.
In the other semi-final, last season’s runners-up Jamalco and Holmwood B will meet at 4:00.
Both games should provide much entertainment, but the Windalco-Mico dual is expected to be a humdinger as neither team are yet to taste defeat.
Also, it will be a battle of the competition’s two most attacking teams with Windalco shooting a record 246 goals with 89 against for a goal difference of 157, the same as Mico, who have found the net on 233 times, while conceding 76.
Windalco’s charge will be led by top goal-shooter Viola Francis-Cummings, and Sashana Wellington, while the towering Sharna Cardice and Vanessa Walker will be key
for Mico, if they are to pull off an upset win.
Meanwhile, in the other game, many-time champions Jamalco should be good enough to stop Holmwood B, who will be looking to avenge the defeat of their sister team last week.
