Juniors FC hunt lead in St James football
ALBION, St James — Juniors FC could return to the top of the Zone A points table in the St James Football Association’s Claro Division One today if they beat Reggae Youths in their round-three cross-zone game at Albion.
The Joshua Cummings-coached Juniors FC are yet to win a game in the third round and trail Little Miami by a point despite playing one game more, but are still in the race for a semi-final position.
Juniors FC are on 19 points, while Reggae Youths are on 16 points in Zone B and would create some space between themselves and third-placed Seaview, who are on 15 points.
Reggae Youths are coming off a rare win on Sunday, edging Rosemount 2-1 with goals from Theo Shaw in the 51st and 72nd minutes after Junior Wright had given Rosemount the lead in the 16th minute.
Zone B leaders Montego Bay Boys Club will be seeking their second win in three days when they take on Westgreen at Tucker after beating Upsetters 2-1 at the UDC on Sunday to extend their lead to a massive 15 points over Reggae Youths.
The prolific Kalusha Coates and Marvin Martin scored for Boys Club who lead with 31 points and are yet to taste defeat.
Rosemount will seek to keep their flagging semi-final quest on track when they take on Marl Road at Mt Salem.
Rosemount are in third place in Zone A on 16 points, but are running out of games from which to get the required points.
In one other game scheduled, Champion and Copperwood will meet at the UDC field.
