Jamaica neglected
Dear Editor,
I read “Who the cap fit…” by Mervin Stoddart in your May 4 issue. Sir, the problem Jamaica has is one of neglect. Parents neglect their children, the government neglects the people, the people neglect the government. The television has been raising the children for many years now. What the children see on TV they imitate. The government allows these foreign programmes in the island to create wants in the people it can never supply. We are not upgrading our prisons, yet thousands are arrested every day.
All our leaders since Independence have done little to improve Jamaica. They have acted in what’s best for the political party instead of what’s best for Jamaica. Imagine not being able to open a bank account without someone (lawyer, doctor, JP) giving you a referral! Those in power see nothing wrong with this.
Mr Stoddart, please to be a little more ital in your writing because not everyone down here understands “Hinglish”. Peace.
