A beautician to the stars has been arrested on suspicion of ripping off her celebrity clients. Salon owner Maria Gabriella Perez is accused of taking credit card information from clients like actresses Jennifer Aniston and Liv Tyler and ringing up hundreds of thousands of dollars in bogus charges.

Secret service agents arrested the 51-year-old at her Beverly Hills business, Chez Gabriela Studio, on Thursday. She has been charged with two counts of fraud and faces a maximum prison sentence of 25 years if she is convicted. Perez, whose website lists Jennifer Aniston, Halle Berry and Penelope Cruz amongst her A-list clientele, is accused of “fraudulently [charging] approximately $280,000 worth of charges in a one year period”. According to an affidavit filed in the United States District Court, the beautician swindled around $214,000 from Liv Tyler alone over a five-month period last year. Another alleged victim is jewellery designer Loree Rodkin, whose attorney told investigators that about $68,000 had been charged to her credit card from Perez’s studio without her authorisation. The affidavit claims Perez offered $25,000 worth of products in exchange for the charges, but Rodkin refused. She also told investigators that she knows of other clients, such as Aniston, Cher and Anne Hathaway, who have noticed similar bogus charges on their credit cards. Cher’s spokesperson, however, has said the singer was not a victim in the alleged fraud plot and does not know why she was named in the affidavit.

Miranda Kerr expecting her first child with Pirates of the Caribbean star Orlando Bloom

After weeks of speculation 27-year-old Victoria’s Secret model Miranda Kerr has finally admitted that she is, in fact, pregnant. Kerr and her husband, actor Orlando Bloom, are expecting their first child together early next year. The Australian model wed the Pirates of the Caribbean star in an intimate ceremony in Anguilla in July just weeks after announcing their engagement, fuelling rumours that Miranda was indeed expecting. “Yes, I’m pregnant. Four months along,” She admitted to Spanish Vogue. Kerr also told a Sydney newspaper earlier this month: “I have always been very open about wanting to be a mother one day. And I’ve always thought Orlando would be a great dad. I’ve always wanted kids, so someday, eventually, yes, it will happen. My ideal situation would be to live on a farm in a solar-powered house with a hammock and a vegetable patch.” The couple began dating in October 2007. Miranda joins other pregnant Victoria’s Secret Model Doutzen Kroes, whose baby is due later this year.

Ricky Martin to release autobiography in November

Puerto Rican singer Ricky Martin has picked an appropriate title for his autobiography: Me. Martin is set to release his memoir on November 2. It will also be released in Spanish on the same day. That edition will be titled Yo, which is Spanish for “I” and “me”. The singer has said that preparing to write the book was one of the reasons he decided to reveal earlier this year that he is gay. He also said in a statement on Thursday that the project led him to extract memories that he had buried deep in the recesses of his mind. He says the book was not easy for him to write, but allowed for an “incredible spiritual journey”.
