Wedded bliss: Hilary Duff beams with happiness

as she arrives in Mexico for her honeymoon

Following their fairytale wedding in Santa Barbara, newlyweds Hilary Duff and Mike Comrie have jetted off for a romantic honeymoon. The actress and her hockey player husband were unable to hide their happiness as they touched down in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.

And the 22-year-old was beaming as she disembarked the private jet that had flown them down from Los Angeles, and was greeted by the plane’s pilot who gave the happy couple a huge bunch of flowers to congratulate them on their nuptials. The pair are staying at the exclusive El Dorado Golf and Beach club, a private, gated members-only resort. The resort has its own private beach, world-class spa facilities and a Jack Nicklaus-designed golf course. Hilary and Edmonton Oilers player Mike married last Saturday evening in front of 100 of their closest friends and family at the private estate of Diandra Luker, ex-wife of Michael Douglas. Hilary wore a strapless Vera Wang dress, with her hair swept up into a bun and an ethereal veil attached, while Mike donned a traditional black Tom Ford tuxedo.

“It feels wonderful to be married, it hasn’t fully sunken in yet,” the star said after the ceremony. After getting engaged in Hawaii with a $1million (£641,000) ring, the wedding was always going to be an extravagant affair.

Prince William and Kate Middleton rumoured to marry next year

A cousin of Prince Charles has claimed that Prince William is already engaged to Kate Middleton and that the pair have invited him to their wedding. Prince Julius Eduard von Anhalt, the Duke of Saxony, told a magazine that the pair will formally announce their engagement this autumn and marry next July, though he did not provide proof of the invitation and refused to give the exact date of the ceremony, saying it was confidential. Prince Eduard, 68, is a distant cousin of Prince Charles and a member of the German nobility. He is well known in his hometown of Berlin as a socialite and columnist, and often appears on television as a commentator on royal matters across Europe. He said: “Kate issued William with an ultimatum: we marry or we break up. There are obviously no more objections from the public, so the engagement is set for this autumn. The wedding is set for July.” But royal sources close to Prince William, 28, dismissed the claims. One said: “This gentleman does not know what he is talking about. Prince William has probably not even heard of him. The engagement is still an if, not a when.”

Singer Wyclef Jean meets With Haiti’s President Rene Preval

Haitian President Rene Preval met with presidential hopeful Wyclef Jean for more than two hours on Thursday, setting off a new round of speculation as to whether the singer will be allowed to run in the November 28 elections.

Jean told The Associated Press that he felt the exchange with Preval was positive. He also said he was hopeful that an electoral council weighing his candidacy will rule that he can run. ”It looks like it’s leaning that way,” he said. Several hours after the meeting, Jean posted a photo on his Twitter account of him shaking hands with Preval, who is not allowed to run for re-election. Earlier in the week, he said he had received death threats. Preval expressed concern and offered him security. The singer and several dozen other presidential hopefuls are scheduled to find out on Friday if the country’s electoral council allows them to run for office. The council, which is known as the CEP, was supposed to release the presidential candidate list last Tuesday, but postponed the decision.
