The names of the 10 DJs who will be featured on the exciting Heineken Green Synergy Reality TV show were unveiled when the second episode aired on TVJ last Friday.

The 10 lucky DJs are Kezah Blackwood aka DJ Banka from Clarendon, last year’s semi finalist, the lone female Nazria Davis aka DJ Naz from St Andrew, last year’s quarter-finalist Andre Flowers aka Ricky Eminence, Jerry Oswald aka DJ Jerry from St Andrew, Claude Richardson aka DJ Don Hype from Mandeville, Oswald Soutar aka DJ Blu from Montego Bay, Barri Taffe aka DJ 47 from Mandeville, Dwayne Thompson aka DJ Kuumba from St Catherine, Christian Watt aka DJ Wattie from St Andrew and Alfred Anderson aka DJ Blosh from Mandeville.

Host Tami Chynn introduced the DJs at a reception party held at Fiction Lounge in Kingston. Decked out in their personalised Heineken polo shirts, the DJs got a chance to ‘hold a vibe’ with each other and with the sponsors of the show.

They were sprung a surprise in the middle of their lyme when Tami told them that they would each play a 6-minute introductory set and that they had 15 minutes to prepare.

Of note, Ricky Eminence was at his ‘home away from home’ as he is the resident DJ at the club.

DJ 47 went first and started well but after experiencing some technical difficulties, walked off in the middle of his set. Don Hype followed and played pretty much an entertaining set. Banka’s set was just hilarious, displaying some real funny dance moves as he played.

Blosh played an average set. DJ Blu unleashed a real party vibe, playing popular disco and R&B music, which he is accustomed to playing as a resident DJ at Montego Bay’s Margaritaville.

DJ Jerry did well, so too Ricky Eminence, DJ Naz and Wattie. In general though, most of the DJs did nothing really ‘special’ and pretty much played average sets.

They were introduced to the local judges, Collin Hinds of FAME FM and entertainment personality/promoter, Quizz.

Collin Hinds described the sets as boring and told the DJs that some of them deserved to go. He pointed to the fact that some of them didn’t use headphones and cheated as they were following and matching the waves on their computers.

They were sprung another surprise when it was revealed that another DJ was going to be put into the mix — Narity, a popular DJ on the Kingston party circuit.

The DJs were then told that they would be given a second chance. They will each get an opportunity to play a 3-minute set and try to redeem themselves.

In the third episode on TVJ this Friday at 9:30 pm, viewers will get a chance to see how the DJs fared in their upcoming challenges.
