Sizzling ‘Broilers’ too hot for Police
JAMAICA Broilers made a winning start in the 2010 Business House Netball Association (BHNA) Super League by defeating Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) ‘A’ 46-30 at the Leila Robinson Courts on Saturday.
The Dorrett Williams-coached ‘Broilers’ started off well in the one-hour encounter in the first quarter as they jumped to a 6-1 lead through shooters, national senior representative Anna Kay Griffiths and Tashana Bloomfield.
Police played much better in the second quarter with shooters Shernette Walker and Niesha Howard finding the target more frequently. ‘Broilers’ held a 23-13 lead at half time.
The victors then scored nine goals to police’s seven to end the third quarter with a 32-20 lead.
‘Broilers’ stepped up the pace in an attempt to reach the fifty-goal mark with some quick passes to shooters Griffiths and Bloomfield. The two missed a number of their first attempts to score, but nevertheless kept scoring to come out easy winners 46-30.
Bloomfield netted 28 goals from 43 attempts, while Griffiths scored 18 goals from 29 attempts for ‘Broilers’. For the losers, Howard scored 16 goals from 33 attempts and Walker 14 goals from 29 attempts.
Meanwhile, three Super League games that were scheduled for last Saturday were postponed. They are defending champions Scotiabank ‘A’ against Scotiabank ‘B’; Sagicor versus General Accident and WISYNCO versus National Housing Trust.
In Intermediate ‘A’ League action, Grace Kennedy defeated Royal Bank of Trinidad Tobago (RBTT) 35-15 and Jamaica Public Service (JPS) beat HEART Trust/NTA 43-32.
Action in the Intermediate ‘B’ League saw Gleaner Company beating Victoria Mutual Group 29-16; Guardian Life outscored J Wray and Nephew 21-16; Appliance Traders Limited (ATL) got past National Water Commission (NWC) 22-19; Bank of Jamaica beat Housing Agency of Jamaica 23-15, Norman Manley International Airports Limited (NMIA) crushed LASCO Group 30-8, while LIME defeated Industrial Commercial Development (ICD) 24-16.
