Dear Editor,

I wish to congratulate All Woman for the articles done during AIDS month. The disease claimed a member of my family recently — an older bachelor uncle who told everyone he had diabetes. We found out only a little before he died that he had been a victim of AIDS.

I cried for him because I realise that he had hidden his affliction out of shame and fear of rejection. I don’t know how he was infected. He probably got drunk and slept with the wrong person. He was too much of a gentleman and wouldn’t share that with me, even if he knew how he had contracted AIDS. I am thankful that though I couldn’t be with him in body, I got to talk to and counsel him by phone. He accepted Christ before he passed away and I am sure he’s now in a much better place.

To the woman whose daughter is mentioned in the article, “Scorned to Death”, I am sorry for the loss of your child. I am sorry your granddaughter had to go through that. As for the doctor , I hope God will send someone to extend the compassion to him that he never seemed to have for your child. Also, please don’t let what that pastor did turn you off from who God is. You have to separate God from the wolves in sheep’s clothing who profess service in His Name. Pastors are earthly shepherds to tend God’s flock. I cry daily because some of the wolves are no more than money-grabbing experts, with their congregation being their ATMs. Please remember that the scriptures tell you that not everyone who says, “Lord, Lord”, actually knows Him. Be at peace, for your daughter rests in the arms of the Creator. She will never be rejected by Him. The world can be harsh, even among the ranks of those entrusted with the care of our souls. The true peace comes only from knowing God for yourself. “The arms of flesh will fail you, you dare not trust your own”. I pray that you’ll take this step to trust Him yourself soon, so you and your daughter can be reunited one day. God bless you.
