PENWOOD High school continued their impressive run in the ISSA/Pepsi/Digicel Manning Cup competition with their fifth consecutive win after Ricardo Greenward and Clifford Shaw scored hat-tricks in a 10-1 drubbing of Mona High at Cling Cling Oval yesterday.

Greenward netted in the 23rd, 28th and 79th minutes, while Shaw got his goals in the 36th, 59th and 81st minutes.

Substitutes Hakeem Green (87th) and Alwayne Wilkie (89th) and Kemar Robinson (14th) and Romario Williams (92nd) scored one each.

Tamar Edwards netted Mona’s lone goal in the 63rd minute.

Assistant coach Rupert Nicholas was elated with his team’s performance, noting that they get better each game.

“Every game we raise the bar a little higher and we get better, and that is why we came away with this result,” he said.

The home team completely dominated their opponents in the first half, with Mona spending most of the time defending their penalty area.

Robinson opened the scoring after 14 minutes, followed by a brace from Greenward and another from Shaw to give the host a 4-0 lead at the break.

In the other Group D matches, St Andrew Technical defeated Pembroke Hall 5-1 on a hat-trick from Trey Solmon, while the game between Holy Trinity and Meadowbrook was rained out.

In Group F, leaders Eltham beat Hydel 3-1 and Campion eased past St Catherine 5-1 with two goals each from Graham Barrett and Graig Watson.

The game between Jonathan Grant and KC was rained out.

Both Group B games, Vauxhall versus Tivoli and Ascot against Dunoon were not played.

In today’s games, Cumberland host JC, St Mary’s College entertain Waterford, St Andrew College play Charlie Smith, Kingston Technical face Innswood, Papine take on Excelsior, St Jago tackle St George’s College, Edith Dalton James go up against Wolmer’s and Spanish Town play Donald Quarrie.

All games start at 3:30 pm.
