Thompson’s contribution will live forever
Dear Editor,
The region has lost one of it outstanding sons. David John Howard Thompson, departed this life at 2:10 am on October 23, just two months before his 49th birthday. He leaves not only his immediate family to mourn his departure, but the entire family of Caribbean nations.
The former Prime Minister of Barbados was recognised as an outstanding leader from as far back as his undergraduate days at the Faculty of Law, Cave Hill Campus of the University of the West Indies. As a fellow undergraduate, I was privileged to have known David and was not surprised by his
meteoric rise in politics. In a previous administration under the late Errol Barrow, he was a cabinet minister before the age of 30, later becoming Prime Minister of Barbados in 2008 at the age of 46.
I salute the life of former Prime Minister Thompson, knowing that his contribution to his beloved country and to the region, will live forever. May his soul rest in peace.
