Our pets: Sparks and Risky
Sparks
WHILE many persons would pass over a mongrel for a pet, Donrick Whyte is happy with his regular, everyday mixed breed puppy who goes by the name Sparks.
For the most part, Sparks is a very friendly and loving pup who follows his owner everywhere he goes, even through the gate when he leaves for school in the mornings. Sometimes Sparks even has to be taken back, locked in the house, and then released later in the day by Donrick’s mom.
Though he is given his own little space on the carport at nights, Sparks is still not used to the fact that he has to sleep outdoors while his owner is inside, and so he whines all night long. But come morning, he is good again!
So attached is he to the pup, that Donrick has gone as far as giving his pet a feeding bowl in a similar design to the one he drinks his cereal and porridge from.
Sparks’ favourite food is any kind of meat well cooked, rice and cornmeal porridge.
His favourite pastime is pulling down fabric that hangs within his reach — including table cloths — and creating a mess.
Risky
Donique, Donrick’s sister, is an avid lover of cats. Risky is one of her favourite cats in the yard, and she will ensure that Risky is not only comfortable in her lap while they both watch Lifetime, but she gives the cat regular stretch exercises.
Risky was given the name days after she was born because Donique actually thought she was a boy. Then many months later, her tummy began to grow! It was only then that Donique discovered she wasn’t a boy after all, and was actually pregnant. It was now too late to change the name, as Risky had got used to it. That’s the story of the girl cat named Risky.
