Stop electricity stealing
Dear Editor,
I am dumbfounded when I think about the high electricity bill that Jamaicans are faced with, even when they try to conserve. I understand that some people continue to find ways to steal electricity – a great free ride.
The most alarming fact about this unfortunate situation is that the customers who faithfully pay their bills are continually at a disadvantage as they must pay for energy that is not being used by them but by these “tiefs”. It is unreasonable when people who can hardly find money to provide for their basic needs are forced to pay excessively high bills or face darkness in their homes.
In my home, we have been trying to conserve energy for months and my bill continues to rise. I guess that means that another person has “hitched” on for yet another free ride on my money.
So, where are our prime minister, minister of energy and the OUR? They need to understand that this is blatantly unfair and that law-abiding citizens keep this country running. I call on them to find a solution immediately as this state of affairs cannot continue.
