UTech march on in Twenty20 Classics
Defending champions UTech Knights posted their second consecutive victory yesterday when they defeated UWI Pelicans by nine wickets on day two of the third staging of the UTech Twenty20 Classics at UTech front field.
Batting first, the Pelicans were skittled out for 69 from 16 overs, as Ralston Levy snatched four for 13 off four overs, with Christie Jones and Ricardo Williams grabbing two wickets a piece.
Michael Prescod and Shane Brooks struck 16 (17 balls, 2x4s) and 14 (16 balls, 1×4) respectively, for the UWI.
Jeffrey Scott hit three fours in his 22 off 41 balls and Brian Clarke cracked two fours and a six to make 20 off 33 balls to guide UTech, now the only unbeaten team, home on 75 for one off 15.1 overs. Joel Morris took the lone wicket for 20 from four overs.
Earlier, GC Foster College defeated Mico University College by five wickets.
Winning the toss and batting, Mico put together 115 for nine off the 20 overs on the back of Kemar Cox, who hit 27 (29 balls, 4x4s) and Marlon Johnson 23 (28 balls, 3x4s). Dwight Stewart took four for 21 off fours overs, as Daneon Parchment and Derval Green shared four wickets.
GC Foster reached their target off 18 overs, after Wayne Morgan scored 54 from 47 balls, which included eight fours. Kerron Davis lent support with 22, coming off 12 balls peppered with three fours and a six. Coi Thomas took two for 16 off four overs.
Matches continue today with UTech meeting Mico at 9:30 and UWI vs GC Foster College at 1:30 pm.
