Ashane nabs Zara campaign
Local model Ashane Rose is the new female face of fashion retailer Zara.
The Spanish-based fashion store unveiled the Jamaican teen this week as the model for their young line TRF.
The shoot was done in December in Spain with photographer David Sims and stylist Beat Bollinger.
“Ashane was selected from an international casting of hundreds of models,” reports Saint CEO Deiwght Peters. He notes that Ashane’s personality, and positive attitude were instrumental in having her book the campaign.
‘This is remarkable, by any standard. Ashane is the only female face featured for Zara’s TRF line. “It sends a powerful signal that her look is globally appealing,” Peters explains noting that supermodel Stella Tennant is the face of the adult women’s line
Known for trendy clothing, Zara was founded in Galicia Spain in 1975 by Amancio Ortega. Since his first store back then, he has built Zara into a billion-dollar global company. Zara stores can now be found in over 30 countries spreading across all continents and is one of Spain’s best success stories and exporter.
In 2010, Ashane blazed a trail of success across the key European fashion markets of Paris and London. After her much-talked- about London Fashionweek debut where she starred for eight designers in that style capital.
Ashane was discovered by Saint CEO Deiwght Peters in Trelawny in 2008. “I thought she was very special from the first. I entered her in the FashionFace Of the Caribbean and told her to bald her head and enter the FashionFace Of The Caribbean,” Peters recalls. As history was written, Ashane won the contest and was signed on the spot by Next Models worldwide. For her first show season, she was flown to London and Paris.
Peters positions Ashane among a group of Saint models who are set to do well over the next eighteen months. Others include Shena Moulton, Raschell Osbourne, Chantel Lee, Sam Taylor, Sosheba Griffiths, Orneila Edwards and Trissan Holder, whom he says will be at the forefront of the charge.
