Poetry in motion at Manchester Golf Club Sunday
The annual evening of verse, Poetry in Motion 2011 shall have it’s 8th annual staging on Sunday at Manchester Golf Club in Mandeville, starting at 6:00 pm.
The yearly festival of mainy spoken word performances put on by veteran dub poet Yasus Afari, is a very successful social-engineering initiative, which utilises ‘edutainment’ as a means of social renewal and community/ nation-building.
“This year we are supporting two very deserving and worthy charities, namely, 3D’s ( for the disabled) and Candle in the Dark (Soup Kitchen),” a press release from the organiser said.
Poetry in Motion 2011 will feature : Ernie Smith, Joan Andrea Hutchinson, Dr Michael Abrahams, Amina Blackwood-Meeks, Dr Leahcim Semaj, Ann-Marie Wilmot, Dr Sonjah Stanley Niaah, Steppa, Reggie’s African Link, Kai Falconer, Damali Henry, Sonia King, Dub Vijaan Band and promoter Yasus Afari.
