Amend Contractor General Act
Dear Editor,
While I share your sentiments on the Corruption Prevention (Special Prosecutor) Act as expressed in your editorial of March 22, I am amused and intrigued how politicians, including prime ministers, see issues that can affect them in a different light from how they view these issues when they are not as central to the matter.
The Contractor General Act needs a similar provision, especially when the incumbent “does as he does” and announces his investigation or intention to investigate. As someone who has been subjected to this sort of investigation and pointed this out to the prime minister at the time, I can only be charitable and say of him that perhaps he did not comprehend the point I was making; charitable indeed. He has certainly never acted on my suggestion and the “midnight cowboy” continues on his merry way.
I hope in taking this forward, the prime pinister suggests a similar amendment to the Contractor General Act.
