Hanover FA pleads for SDF assistance
LUCEA, Hanover — The Hanover Football Association (HFA) is calling out for their share of attention from the Sports Development Foundation (SDF) in helping to improve their sporting infrastructure.
“It is time to fulfil your promise to help us,” president Lorraine Scringer said at last week Saturday’s launch of the Captain’s Bakery and Grill Hanover Football Association’s Major League at Watson Taylor Park.
She claimed that SDF chairman David Mais had promised years ago that they would get help in upgrading Watson Taylor Park, the parish’s main sporting venue, but the parish is still waiting.
Scringer said they were hoping the SDF would assist them in resurfacing the football field as well as construct stands and perimeter fencing.
The HFA’s Major League received sponsorship for the first time in three years when Captain’s Bakery announced a $1.2 million package last week.
Eight teams are taking part in the league that will be played in three rounds and will see the winners taking home a record $100,000.
Lucea FC and Jericho Rangers played to a 0-0 draw in Saturday’s opening game.
