Teams fight for pride of place in Trelawny Major League
GEORGIA, Trelawny — There is a log-jam of five teams in third place in the Trelawny Football Association’s National Rums of Jamaica Major League after Saturday’s set of first-round games.
A win for Granville FC and draws for Preston and Jackson Ton all saw them join Holland and Clarks Town in third place, trailing leaders Kinloss and second-placed Spicy Hill.
Lerone Clarke in the 14th minute and Patrick Pinnock in the 81st scored for Granville to beat Spicy Hill 2-1 at Georgia as Damin Williams scored in the 85th minute to give the losers some hope.
Preston earned a point from their 2-2 draw against Invaders at Davis Pen, taking the lead before having to score late to get the point.
Nish Sterling opened the scoring in the 40th minute for Preston, but Omar Williams scored in the 49th and 60th minutes to give Invaders the lead.
Tevis Delvin, however, scored in the 70th minute for Preston to salvage the draw.
At Jackson Town, the home team and last-placed Classic played to a 0-0 draw.
