MoBay’s Indians contribute to Children’s Home
MONTEGO BAY, St James – MEMBERS of the Montego Bay Indian Benevolent Association (MIBA) recently visited the West Haven Children’s Home for the disabled, where they fed the children and spent the day entertaining them.
Under the Association’s Charity Outreach Programme, headed by Director Laju Jaswani, funds were raised, which enabled them to deliver supplies to the home and feed over 85 children, a release from the association said.
Since inception in September 2010, the Indian Association’s new board, under the leadership of President Haresh Ramchandani has focused on several community programmes.
These include: Scholarships for several students;
* Christmas treat for children in the Neo Natal Ward at Cornwall Regional Hospital;
* Street Feeding Program for over 150 homeless and disabled persons; and
* A renovation programme at the Early Childhood School.
The Indian Association says it has plans for several other community projects during the course of the year.
