Television Jamaica unveiled its exclusive track and field properties for the next three years earlier this week.

The track and field events that will only be seen on TVJ for the next three years include the IAAF World Championships in Athletics 2011 and 2013; the IAAF Diamond League series 2011, 2012 and 2013; the IAAF World Youth Championships 2013; the IAAF World Junior Championships 2012; the JN Jamaica

Invitational Meet 2011 and 2012; the National Junior and Senior Championships 2011 and 2012; the World Indoor Championship 2012 and the Gibson Relays 2012 and 2013. Some of these exclusive rights extend regionally.

Each year TVJ will have six months of high quality track and field events being carried live and or delayed on TVJ and TVJ Sports Network.

It was also announced that Jamaica’s top track and field analyst Bruce James will be one of the top class team members who will be working with the station for the next three years with all the events that they will broadcast. James will complement TVJ’s ultra talented sports unit that includes Neville Bell, Simon Crosskill and Patrick Anderson.

During a live televised press conference attended by advertising agencies and clients, TVJ’s general manager Kay Osborne reinforced the commitment of TVJ to delivering to Jamaican audiences world-class coverage of track & field events. Osborne also revealed that TVJ has developed a comprehensive strategy for the 2012 London Olympics that will be revealed at a later date.

The exclusive track and field offerings on TVJ this year started last weekend with the Carifta Games and will continue next month with the JN Jamaica Invitational Meet, in June with the National Senior and Junior Championships, in July with the IAAF World Youth Championships, in August with the IAAF World Championships in Athletics and the IAAF Diamond League which will run from May to September.
