Judgement Day prophets missing the point
Dear Editor,
The doomsday prophecies being bandied about now-a-days by Rev Camping are missing the point. Jesus’ second coming is imminent, they indicate, and so the days of “rapture” and “judgement” are close at hand. This is not so at all.
The visions of the “end-time” and Judgement Selection of John the Revealer, as reported in his writings, are so rife with symbology and mystic references that they often obfuscate more than they reveal. Of course, this leaves an open field for speculation of which there are many, and perhaps John himself did not understand all the messages he was given.
It seems John may have been shown the blissful life of the planet called “heaven” by earth people. What seems clear is that the “second coming” of the Elohim and one of their hybrid children (also known as Jesus, with Elohim father, and an 18 year-old Jewish female as mother) will come after the near extinction of mankind as a result of World War 3.
This holocaust seems inevitable, given man’s inability to understand, and come to grips with the horrible soul-destroying, life-threatening, and even murderous effects of his dualistic nature, and his petty hierarchical social structures. Compassion is also a prominent instinct of man, and is the reason [allied to self-interest] we have not totally wiped out the species as yet, since we acquired the means to do so.
But compassion is far less powerful an instinct than the human urge to aggression, violence, territorial acquisition, and appropriation of others’ assets [including labour] and sex.
Judgement is not a concept to play with; it will probably be the worst experience man will have, resembling closely what is called the Mosaic law, or “eye for an eye” law. The unimaginably complex [perhaps partially biological] computers of the Elohim can easily record emotions, some have speculated, based on what is forecast for human efforts in this regard.
It will therefore be an easy matter to resurrect an evildoer in minutes, either from DNA in bones, or molecular records in heaven, and let him/her experience the actual effects of crimes by splicing, or playing, the memory banks of victims in his own brain.
The pain/fear and other emotions of a deliberate gouging of another’s eye can then be experienced by the aggressor down to the last Nth degree. This applies to all human actions, physical or psychological, torture, war, slavery, murder, psychological harassment, rape, wounding, reckless driving leading to hit-and-run manslaughter, and so on.
In certain cases true repentance can be offered, but this may, or may not be accepted. Jesus came as a teacher, and what did man do? Slaughter him on a technicality and then claim that this was his fate — an unimaginably barbaric blood sacrifice for sinful Homo sapiens. Let us hope God [Yahweh] and His half-human son (known readily as Jesus) are more merciful than mankind. In the meantime, the golden rule is a good guide.
