New parties added to ATI weekend
THE promoters of Appleton Temptation Isle (ATI) — arguably the most popular weekend party series in Jamaica — launched this year’s event with a promise that it will be improved with new parties added to the roster.
Journalists and other guests of the promoters who gathered at Fiction nightclub in Kingston on Wednesday night were told that the July 29 – August 1 event in Negril will this year offer eight parties and a whole new concept for the weekend.
“We have brought on some new events, including Miami’s number one party — Naked,” said Bobby Chantrelle, member of the Absolute party team, in a press release. “We have brought on the top party from Western Jamaica — Officially Diagnosed.”
Another imported event that will make it to this year’s staging of ATI is Kingston’s fastest growing party — Smudge. The weekend will climax on Monday, August 1 with a sound clash called Heatwave.
The promoters said that acts already confirmed for this event are I-Octane and Gyptian.
The event will also see the return of staple events such as Pretty In Pink, Colours, The Painted Edition, Wildsides, and Stages.
Appleton’s brand manager David Walton said they will be coming with a great line-up for this year as he has partnered with other brands to enhance the experience.
Kim Lee, brand manager of True-Juice, said patrons’ enjoyment would be heightened by Pirates’ Havens that will be set up at all the ATI events. Patrons will also get the chance to enjoy True-Juice’s new product — Calico Jack Rum Punch. “You know you can get a feel of what it was like back in the day at the pirates’ haven,” Lee said.
Wednesday night’s launch achieved its objective even though the speakers had a bit of a difficulty reducing the chatter from the floor.
