Harris retains All-Jamaica Junior titles
DOUBLE defending champion Daniel Harris retained both the boys 16 and 18 titles with convincing victories in the Pan-CaribbeanBank All-Jamaica Junior Tennis Championships at the Eric Bell Centre Piccadilly Road, yesterday.
Harris, who won both titles last year, secured the Under-16 crown after a 6-1,6-4 victory over Roger Lyn. He returned a few hours later for an even easier victory in the Under-18 category where he beat Oshane Trail 6-1,6-1.
Harris, who attends Lawrenceville School in New Jersey, told the Observer that his aim had been to retain his titles.
“It was tough this year,” he said. “Andy Bicknell nearly took me out twice so I feel pretty happy with how I played.”
Harris then paired with Bicknell to capture the boys double with an 8-5 win over Simon Levy and Joseph Ross.
He was denied a quartet of titles after he and partner Sinclair were beaten by Bicknell and Shantal Blackwood in the mixed doubles 7-5.

Shaeda Nickle and Jacob Bicknell captured the Under-14 titles.
Nickle was leading 6-4, 1-1 when her opponent Shaeann Kameka retired, while Bicknell defeated James Cruze 6-3, 6-4 for the boys equivalent.
