Clarendon hunt third win in Juici League
MAY PEN, Clarendon — Manchester will be aiming to disrupt Clarendon’s perfect start to the Juici Patties/South Central Confederation Youth League when they journey to May Pen for a third-round fixture today.
The day’s other game will see St Elizabeth hosting reigning champions St Catherine at the Santa Cruz Community Centre.
Game time is 1:30 pm for the Under-13s and 3:00 pm for the Under-15s.
Clarendon are two from two after securing victories over St Catherine and St Elizabeth in their opening games and will be looking to make it a hat-trick of wins on their home turf at West Park.
They sit atop the points table in both age groups — three ahead in the U-13s and two clear over their U-15 rivals — and another pair of victories will see them tightening their grip on the title race.
But Manchester are also off to a decent start and will be fancying another upset following Wednesday’s morale-boosting results against St Catherine at the Spanish Town Prison Oval.
The mid-island parish secured four out of a possible six points from their two games in Spanish Town — winning the U-15 tie 3-2, after battling back from two goals down to earn a 2-2 draw in the opening U-13 game — to go second and third in the respective U-15 and U-13 points tables.
At Santa Cruz, St Catherine will be hoping to avoid a run of three successive defeats as they aim to revive their fading title dreams.
The Saints are off to their worst possible start to the competition in many years and defeats of any kind in both divisions could signal the end of their chances of registering a back-to-back double.
They will come up against a physical St Elizabeth unit in the U-15 encounter and may find it difficult to contain the hosts, especially with a team lacking the usual flair of a St Catherine side.
