Jamalco, Windalco in top Senior League clash
MAY PEN, Clarendon — Heavyweights Jamalco and Windalco will square-off in the top-of-the-table clash as first-round action in the Juici Patties/Clarendon Senior Netball League continues on Sunday at Mineral Heights.
In the other Senior League match-up, joint second-placed team Turbo United take on the unpredictable schoolgirl champions Denbigh A in what should be another eye-catching contest.
The Jamalco-Windalco affair is, however, expected to be the highlight of the afternoon as this duel will pit the reigning champions against the early league leaders.
Windalco are so far the form team in the competition, securing a maximum nine points from three games, and will be looking to consolidate their place atop the league going into the second phase of the competition.
Jamalco (six points) will be hoping to rebound from last weekend’s surprise defeat to Turbo and might be boosted by the return of a couple senior players to their line-up.
In the other fixture, Turbo (six) should be good enough to hold off a spirited Denbigh A (three) outfit as they look to take advantage of any slip-up in the feature game.
Meanwhile, in the Junior League, run-away Zone One leaders Hayes All-Stars will go in search of their fifth straight win against Ricam Strikers, as Greenvale take on Glenmuir B, Vere Technical tackle Humble Lion and Holmwood B play Gravel Hill.
Over in Zone Two, Manchester High will be up against Sewell Lane, while Foga Road High do battle with Rock River, Toll Gate go up against Red Ground, with Glenmuir A and Denbigh B clashing in an all-schoolgirl affair.
Action gets underway at 2:00 pm with Junior Leaguers.
