Peak Bottling clip Tank-Weld Metals
Peak Bottling Company clipped defending champions Tank-Weld Metals 1-0 in Division One of the 2011 JustBet/Business House Five-A-Side Football competition last Thursday to hand them their first defeat of the season at the NWC playing field, Mona.
Troyland Williams got the all important goal when his powerful shot beat goalkeeper Richard McCallum from close range. Peak Bottling are in second place on 13 points, on goal difference, behind leaders Scotiabank Group A, who clipped National Water Commission (NWC) 3-2, with Richard West getting a brace in the fifth and 15th minutes, while Rollin Francis scored a brace also for NWC in the eighth and 17th minutes, but Norwayne Knight got the winner in the 20th minute, with a spectacular shot from an acute angle which goalkeeper Kirk Porter could not stop.
NWC are in sixth place with seven points, Tank-Weld Metals are in fourth place on 10 points. In other Division One matches, goals from Taffari Fairley and Carl Brown carried former champions G4S to a 2-0 victory over LockerRoom Sports/Tracks and Records. Fifth-placed team UDC (eight points) and Sagicor A (two points), drew 2-2.
Luhbert Hyman scored a brace for Sagicor, while Jermaine Williamson scored twice for UDC. Kemar Christian gave Jamaica Broiler a 1-0 victory over Alcor Windows and Doors, while a brace from Lawrence Richards carried Island Grill to a 2-1 victory over Lascelles. Prince Shand got the consolation for Lascelles.
In Division Two, UTech lead Zone One over Maritime & Transport and JP Tropical Foods. They all have 12 points, but UTech have played four matches and lead with a superior goal average. In Zone Two, Scotiabank Group B lead with 13 points, with SportsMax and Food For The Poor next with 12 points.
In Zone Three, first-time entrant Kingston Bookshop lead with 15 points, with PICA next on 12 points and Flow Jamaica third on 11 points, while another first-time entrant Spanish Grain Stores lead Zone Four with 15 points, with Western Sports Limited second on 12 points and Ministry of Agriculture an Fisheries third on 10 points.
The league continues with eight matches next Monday at the NWC playing field, Mona, starting at 6:30 pm.
