JATOO pens 2-year voice and data contract with Digicel Business
The Jamaica Association of Transport Owners and Operators (JATOO) recently signed a two-year Voice and Data contract with Digicel Business, which will see the company realizing significant savings from lower calling rates among users.
The official signing took place at JATOO’s office at 123 Duke Street on Wednesday, July 21, 2011.
Included in the two-year contract are BlackBerry devices and Nokia handsets, complemented by both post-paid and pre-paid voice and data plans on Digicel Business’ Closed User Group. JATOO has further expressed that by the end of 2011, they will be adding a further 100 members to the plan to receive devices – again – on Digicel’s postpaid and prepaid voice and data plans.
Expressing that a great majority of JATOO’s members are already Digicel customers, president, Louis Barton added that, “We have so many members spread across Jamaica, so it’s very important for us to be in constant contact with each other. This contract with Digicel will not only ensure that we are able to stay in touch, but it will also help us to do so at affordable rates – and that is very important for us at JATOO”.
Sophia Dunkley-Wright, regional sales manager with responsibility for the small and medium enterprise market for Digicel Business, shared that discussions are also well underway for JATOO to sell Digicel Top Up electronically from their offices – making it even easier for its members to access call credit as needed.
“Digicel Business has had a longstanding relationship with JATOO as part of our SME portfolio and we’re very happy to be building on this relationship through this two-year contract, which will see them benefitting from lower rates between users for a flat monthly fee,” she said.

Digicel Business will also continue to provide JATOO with full service ongoing support through a dedicated Account Manager and help desk support under the contract.
