Rush on for final spots in St James Netball Senior League
MONTEGO BAY, St James – IT will be a repeat of last season’s semi-finals when the semi-finals of the St James Netball Association’s Hunger Buster/Impact Auto Senior League gets underway this Sunday at the Montego Bay Boys’ Club courts.
Defending champions Crystal United, winners of Zone A, will meet Zone B runners-up Angels A in the first game starting at 3:30pm followed by Zone B winners 12 Star facing Blazers for a place in the final set for September 11 at the same venue.
Crystal who came from behind to beat 12 Stars in last year’s finals, then beat them again in the end of first round final this year, has been unbeaten all season and will start favourites to get the better of Angels A.
Twelve Stars is the only one of the four teams that has never won the title and will seek to go one better this year, but will have to get by Blazers in their game first.
Last year, 12 Stars had prevailed by a single point over Blazers 36-35 in their semifinal game.
The Bethel Town-based 12 Star warmed up for the game with an 11 points 39-28 win over Pacers A in last weekend’s rain affected schedule.
Meanwhile, in games played on Monday, Pacers Juniors beat Starlight Juveniles 29-17, while Sting got points from Angels A and Blazers had a walk over win over Angels B.
