No traffic signals at Molynes Road/Washington Blvd cause concern
MOTORISTS yesterday raised concerns about malfunctioning traffic signals at the intersection of Molynes Road and Washington Boulevard in St Andrew that have remained out of service for over a week.
In addition, irate motorists complained that despite the absence of the lights, cops have ignored directing traffic at the busy intersection.
When Auto visited the scene yesterday, drivers were at danger trying to traverse the intersection without the assistance of police personnel.
“The problem is serious and what makes it threatening is that the police only monitor the area in the morning but leave by midday,” said one motorist.
Frustrated motorists could be seen arguing with each other, which further worsened the traffic congestion.
The National Works Agency (NWA) yesterday said it was aware of the problem and was working to address the situation.
NWA Communications Manager Steven Shaw said authorities were trying to source a control box that was needed to repair the lights.
“We are aware of the problem and have since asked the police to assist us at these areas where the problems have been reported,” said Shaw.
He also issued a call for motorists to exercise caution when travelling in the area.
