Jamaican women earn silver in 4×100

JAMAICA was beaten into the silver medal position by the United States, despite running a national record 41.70 seconds, in the women’s 400 metres relay at the IAAF World Championships in Daegu, South Korea today.

The quartet of Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, Kerron Stewart, Sherone Simpson and 200m champion Veronica Campbell-Brown suffered from a bad baton change on the third leg.

Carmelita Jeter was able to hold on for the US despite a strong late challenge from Veronica Campbell-Brown who ran the last leg for Jamaica.

The Ukraine was third in 42.51.
