Ashé offers edutainment and performing arts course
ASHE Edutainment and Performing Arts Company semester one programme kicks off on September 12 offering the core performing art forms of voice, drama and dance in its junior department and Academy programmes.
The programme will challenge students to unearth their truest potential while interacting and developing their skills in the areas of drama, dance, music, sign language, edutainment and drumming.
Ashé’s executive/artistic director, Conroy Wilson, strongly believes participants will enjoy every moment of the programme, as it provides an opportunity for them to develop their skills in the performing arts through an intense programme while at the same time having fun.
“The concept is a youth-friendly space where all young people can be empowered using the performing arts such as singing, dancing, drumming and acting. The performing arts is a potent tool in the transformation of lives across Jamaica, thus Ashé seeks to partner with past members who have benefited from the programmes at Ashé, who have moved on and are now celebrities in their own right,” he said.
The instructors are Ashé members, past and present, who are also graduates of The Edna Manley College for the Visual and Performing Arts, who have benefited from the training and classes that the organisation provides.
The company has always been an active advocate in the preservation of Jamaican heritage and the addressing of many social ills in society through the performing arts across Jamaica and the world.
Ashé new semester programme will be no different, as by the end of 12 weeks of long, intense and fun training, students are expected to feel empowered and gained the necessary skills and techniques in honing their talents to empower others.
