Commonwealth Youth Games team named
ELEVEN athletes will represent Jamaica in the sports of track and field, swimming and badminton at the 2011 Commonwealth Youth Games to be held in the British Crown Dependency of the Isle of Man from tomorrow through September 13.
The track team of seven includes 100m runners Kedisha Dallas and Chanice Bonner, 200m participants Dianna Johnson and Shantae Green, all four of whom will also be part of the girls’ 4x100m relay team.
Sabina Allen will compete in the triple jump, while Asaine Hall will compete in the 400m and Chadrick DaCosta in the discus and shot put.
The pair of Mikaylia Haldane and Gerald Isaacs will compete in girls’ and boys’ singles and mixed doubles badminton, respectively, while Breanna Roman and Matthew Chen will take part in the swimming competition.
The delegation will be accompanied by chef de mission Denise Forrest, track and field coach Kirk Brown, swimming coach Wendy Chambers-Lee, and badminton coach Howard Ranger, as well as physiotherapist Pat Lue-Chin.
Sixty-eight Commonwealth nations are expected to participate in the fourth Commonwealth Youth Games with all events expected to take place from September 9-11.
