Moy Hall win community football league
MONTEGO BAY, St James — Moy Hall captured the All Community Super Summer Football Trophy after trouncing Little Miami 3-0 in the finals played last week at the Bogue playing field.
Moy Hall sealed the victory with the assistance of a brace from the competition’s most valuable player, Michael ‘Shampoo’ Bell and a goal from Christopher Parkes.
The competition which is in its 22 years of existence, got underway on Emancipation Day, August 6 with 16 teams.
Two Sundays ago Moy Hall eked out 3-2 victory over Ramble Hill to book their spot in the finals. Meanwhile, the Catherine Hall based Little Miami gained their berth in the finals by a similar, narrow 3-2 margin over Melbourne.
The eventual champions left the Bogue playing field $40,000 richer plus the championship trophy, while the losing finalists pocketed $10,000 along with a trophy.
Moy Hall’s prolific goalscorer, Bell was the toast of the presentation, walking away with three awards.
Meanwhile, Paul Nelson, the main sponsor of the summer knock-out football competition appealed to corporate St James to assist with the sponsorship of the competition in the coming season next year.
” I want to invite the business sector to hop on board and join me in this worthy venture,” Nelson appealed.
He, however, expressed his gratitude to businessman Mark Hart who he said has consistently contributed towards the running of the competition.
