VIDEO: Free prostate cancer screenings
AS part of efforts in its battle against prostate cancer, the Jamaica Cancer Society (JCS) has done free screening for 80 men in Kingston and has started screening for another 20 men in Ocho Rios.
The free screenings are part of the activities planned for Prostate Cancer Month, observed in September. According to public relations executive at the JCS, Shullian Brown, the Cancer Society also hosted a medical forum yesterday at the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel in Kingston, which saw experts discussing issues such as diagnosis and chemotherapy prevention, treatment of localised prostate cancer and palliative care for prostate cancer patients.
The Society will also be having a prostate cancer public forum on September 25 at the Guardian Life Centre off Trafalgar Road in Kingston.
“It is aimed at the general public to educate persons as to the importance of prostate cancer screening and we will have a prostate cancer survivor who will be on hand to give testimonials as well,” said Brown.
