Ginger bulla goes islandwide
If you have a yen for something new to pair a slice of avocado or cheese with, why not give National’s Ginger Bulla a try? It’s what’s (relatively) new on the supermarket shelves. While the bulla has actually been available for around two years, according to Sonja Linton, the brand and promotions manager at Continental Baking Company, “it was initially introduced on a small scale in our wholesale stores at Half Way Tree Road and Osbourne Roads.”
Based on the overwhelmingly positive response from customers, the decision was taken to introduce the ginger bulla to a wider customer base all over the island recently, Linton revealed. The manager explained that traditionally, “Jamaicans have always loved ginger products and we saw where the market could respond favourably to a ginger bulla, so we went ahead.” The ginger-flavoured bulla is available in small shops, supermarkets and large retail chains across Jamaica and retails for $35 for singles, and $120 for a four-pack. “The four-packs are individually packaged so one gets the convenience of just eating a single bulla which is not stuck (like the traditional ones) to each other in the pack,” Linton informed.
