GC Foster College beat the previously unbeaten Mico University College by five wickets to win the fourth edition of the UTech Twenty20 Cricket Classic at the University of Technology’s Old Hope Road base on Sunday.

Scores: Mico University 135 all out (19.5 overs); GC Foster 139-5 (19 overs)

Batting first after winning the toss, Mico were guided to 135 all out in 19.5 overs thanks to 45 from Herman Henry and 25 youth player Ramon Senior.

Peat Salmon, bowling his flat off-spin was the top wicket-taker for GC Foster with 4-21.

In reply, GC Foster sped to 139-5 with six balls to spare to avenge a narrow loss to Mico in the preliminary round.

Derval Green (35), Kemar Foster (25) and unbeaten 18 from Kerron Davis were the top scorers for GC Foster. Henry was Mico’s best bowler, taking 2-32.

The hosts and 2011 winners UTech were eliminated in the preliminary phase after suffering a surprise loss to the University of the West Indies Mona.
