Bowens, Milk River notch Major League wins
MAY PEN, Clarendon — Jameal Forrester scored a second-half brace as Milk River surged atop the Clarendon/Captain’s Bakery Major with a 3-0 win over Rock River in Chapelton at the weekend.
Forrester, a Golden Boot winner two seasons ago, scored in the 49th and 65th minutes to complete a comfortable victory for Milk River at Clarendon College.
Former Humble Lion striker Tyrone Buddah had earlier put the visitors ahead with a clean finish on 30 minutes.
The result saw the perennial title challengers Milk River improving their tally to six points to lead the 10-team league on goal difference ahead of New Bowens, who also maintained their 100 per cent start at the weekend.
The former champions actually needed a last-gasp winner from Andre Ennis to hand Original Hazard a second straight defeat at Cross.
Lionel Bennett had slotted hosts Hazard into a 22nd-minute lead, before tricky midfielder Daniel Callaghan equalised in minute 50 with his second goal in as many games.
Ennis then complete the turnaround for New Bowens with 89th-minute strike.
In another game, Wood Hall got by Gimme-Me-Bit 3-0 at the Turners Oval in Chapelton.
The competition continues on Tuesday with two third-round games, scheduled to kick off at 3:00 pm.
New Bowens host Milk River at the New Bowens Community Centre, while Wood Hall and Rock River meet in a north central Clarendon derby at Turners.
