TT tourney turns up the trottle
ACTION continued in the Inter-Secondary Schools Sports Association (ISSA) Table Tennis competition with 10 matches across the island on Tuesday.
In Rural action, hosts Titchfield drubbed St Thomas Technical 5-0 both in Boys Under-19 and Under-16; defending champions Cross Keys blanked deCarteret 5-0 in Boys Under-19 play, while deCarteret clipped Cross Keys 3-2 in girls Under-19 action.
In Urban results, St Georges edged Wolmer’s 3-2 in Boys Under-19 and Norman Manley blanked Ascot 3-0 in Girls Under-16. In Boys Under-16, St Georges pipped Wolmer’s 3-2, KC defeated JC 4-1, Norman Manley stopped Ascot 4-1 and Hillel beat Campion 4-1.
With the last set of results, St George’s lead with five points, followed by both KC and Wolmer’s on four points each and Hillel on two. The top-two finishers will contest the final.
In the rural standings, defending champions Cross Keys lead Central One boys zone with maximum six points, ahead of deCarteret four points, Belair three and Munro two. The top finisher will advance to a round-robin final play-off.
In Group One Urban Girls Under-16, Ardenne, Hillel and Norman Manley are all tied on four points apiece, while Ascot have three points. The top-two finishers will advance to semi-finals.
In Group One Urban Under-16 boys, KC lead the standings with seven points, followed by St Jago six, Norman Manley five and JC and Ascot on three points each.
In Group Two Urban Under-16 boys, Hillel are on top with seven points ahead of St Jago and Gaynstead on five each, Wolmer’s have four and Campion sit on three.
