Swept pip MVP at Milo Relays
CATHERINE HALL, St James — Eight records were broken at the 34 staging of the Milo Western Relays at Catherine Hall at press time last night.
The MVP quartet of Asafa Powell, Michael Frater, Nexter Carter and Barbadian Andre Hines was pipped by the Swept team of Ainsley Waugh, Dexter lee, Keneil Lee and Sheldon Mitchell who won in 38.84secs. MVP 38.97.
In the Women’s equivalent, the heralded MVP failed to pass the baton at the first exchange as UTech’s ‘A’ team won in 44.70.
Meanwhile, Edwin Allen High girls swept all the 4×100 metre relays, breaking two records in the process — the Class Four and Two events in 48.35 and 45.00 seconds respectivel.
Edwin Allen also won the Class Three event in 47.52 and the Class One in 46.46. Vere crossed the line first in the latter event but were later disqualified.
The other records to go at press time were Green Pond Primary who clocked 56.74 in the sprint relay; MoBay Prep who did like wise in 57.55 and Lansford Spence (Sprint Tech) in the Men’s 100m in 10.37.
Also in record mode were Kingston College’s Class 4 4×100 team in 46.27; their Class 2 in 41.99; Kurt Brown (unattached) who clocked 8:24.26 in the men’s 3,000m and Wolmer’s Boys’ Christoph Bryan who jumped 2.20m for the high jump Open title.
Meanwhile, Odail Todd of Green Island piloted his team to victory in the Class One Boys 4x100m in 40.50.
