August Town, Rae Town face-off at UWI Bowl
LEADERS Cavalier will play away to mid-table side Greenwich Town at Tinson Pen in the 14th round of the KSAFA Super League competition this afternoon.
In other games, August Town entertain Rae Town at UWI Bowl; Mountain View take on Rockfort at Excelsior High; Barbican travel to Cling Cling Oval to play Olympic Gardens; Santos host UWI at Bell/Chung Oval, and Duhaney Park take on Constant Spring at Baldwin Crescent. All matches start at 3:30.
Cavalier are four points atop the standings on 30 points after 13 matches, with Rae Town in close pursuit on 26, followed by the vastly-improving August on 23, one ahead of Mountain View and two more than Barbican.
At Tinson Pen, Cavalier will start slight favourite against the home team, who cannot be taken lightly after impressive results against some of the league’s front-runners.
In the feature match at UWI Bowl, pre-season favourites and third-placed August Town will hunt their fifth win in six games against second-placed Rae Town, a result which would put them joint second with the said opponents.
Meanwhile, former leaders Barbican have fallen from grace in recent weeks but should have the edge against Olympic Gardens, while Mountain View should be too strong for Rockfort.
However, the matches between Santos and UWI, and Duhaney Park against Constant Spring could go either way.
In the Major League, four games will be contested today and two on Sunday. In today’s fixture’s, leaders Police take on Shortwood at Shortwood field; Allman/Woodford play away to Meadforest at Queensborough; Bull Bay play Browns Town at Bull Pen, while Swallowfield go up against Molynes United at Stadium East.
In tomorrow’s games, Pembroke Hall entertain Cooreville at Pembroke Hall High and New Kingston face Maxfield at Heroes Circle. All matches start at 3:30 pm.
In a two-horse race, Police National with 34 points lead the standings by a point over Allman/Woodford. Their nearest challengers Shortwood and Real Mona are 11 off the pace, while Browns Town are fifth with 22 and Maxfield sixth on 20.
