Organisers hand over charity
SOCIAL media promoters Zen Events, has taken the decision to step down as host of MAHIMA Concert.
Started in 2009 and the brainchild of siblings Colin and Ron Young and Chris Telfer, MAHIMA Concerts were used to raise funds for Monique Geourzoung, who battled breast cancer. She, however, succumbed to the disease in 2010.
In keeping with Geourzoung’s wishes, Zen continued the concert and donated 100 per cent of the event’s profits to the Hope Institute, which provides cancer treatment to Jamaicans.
To date, MAHIMA donated $1,025,641.83 to the Institute.
Zen made the decision for the family of Geourzoung to determine the future and direction of the MAHIMA. The hosts also indicated their gratitude to all the sponsors, artistes, musicians, media personalities, guests and loyal patrons that donated and supported the cause.
Top Jamaican performers ralling to the cause over the years including Tarrus Riley, Jah Cure, Cherine, TOK, Chalice, Tessanne and Tami Chynn and Rootz Underground.
