Royal Windsor seeks liaison with Caymanas Park
ROYAL Windsor Sales director Matthew Foxton-Duffy visited Caymanas racetrack on Wednesday to hold talks and explore the possibilities of establishing opportunities between Caymanas Track Limited (CTL) and Windsor racetrack in England.
These opportunities include bringing together the two racetracks. Royal Windsor Racecourse is a thoroughbred horse racing venue located in Windsor, Berkshire, England.
It is one of only two figure-of-eight courses in the United Kingdom. The other is Fontwell Park. Royal Windsor abandoned National Hunt jump racing in December 1998, switching entirely to flat racing.
It is situated on the banks of the River Thames and occupies a large island between the main channel of the River and the Clewer Mill Stream backwater.
While the area has links to horseracing that dates back to the time of Henry VIII, the first race meeting at Windsor did not take place until 1866.
The initiative of the Royal Windsor talks is the brainchild of Jamaicans Marcia Bulgin-Samuels, who partnered with Maria Bryan to form a company designed to establish legacies for Jamaica with UK stakeholders.
This includes the staging of Jamaica’s 50th Anniversary celebration at Ascot on June 21 with Ladies Day, “the most sought after day in the social and sporting calendar”, Bulgin-Samuels highlighted.
According to Bulgin-Samuels, “Royal Windsor is using their 23 racedays this year to highlight Jamaica’s 50th year of independence, including hosting a Jamaica Super Hero Family Fun Day on May 7 and a Jamaica celebration of summer on August 25”.
During the visit, which began before the day’s nine-race card got underway, Foxton-Duffy presented to Arnaldo Brown, member of parliament in whose constituency Caymanas Park falls, a painting of the Royal Windsor Racing Club featuring Kilburn, one of the club’s most famous racers, striding to victory.
