Allison Randall sets new national discus record
ALLISON Randall set a new national senior women’s discus throw record on Saturday when she won the event with a throw of 61.21m at the University of Miami Hurricane Invitational in Florida.
Randall smashed the 26-year-old old mark of 53.58m set way back in 1986 by Marlene Lewis in Abilene, Texas, as she achieved the B qualifying standard for the Olympics Games to be held later this year in London.
Randall had won the bronze medal at the 2011 CAC Championships with a then personal best of 52.75m at the championships held in Puerto Rico.
