TJB fêtes arriving athletes in New York
NEW YORK, New York — More than 50 athletes, representing the cream of Jamaica’s junior athletics programme along with their coaches and school administrators, were fêted by Team Jamaica Bickle (TJB) at a luncheon at The Dream Restaurant in Queens here on Tuesday afternoon.
TJB CEO Irwine Clare was on hand to welcome the athletes representing five of the competing schools at this year’s 118th staging of the Penn Relays Carnival (PRC) at the Ben Franklin Field Stadium, University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, from today through to Saturday.
Also on hand to welcome the athletes were Reverend Patrick Perrin of the St John’s United Methodist Church, Queens; Rich Kenah of Global Athletics, organisers of the Adidas Grand Prix/NYC; Louie Grant and Robert Clarke of Irie Jam Media Group.
The athletes were expected to be bussed to Philadelphia and be ready for the opening of the PRC this morning.
