Skatta Burrell sued
Magnum Kings & Queens of Dancehall judge Skatta Burrell has found himself in hot water after a lawsuit was filed against him.
Producer Rookie, who is known for his rhythm Superstar, which featured artistes such as Lady Saw and Spragga Benz, claims that elements of the Superstar riddim were used in Specialist’s Street Hustle song, which was produced by Skatta.
Skatta’s response was: “Rookie’s last hit was 1998. He should feel glorified that a hit in 2012 has been influenced by his rhythm. Instead of suing me and Downsound Records, he should be thanking us.”
Adele’s 21 is best seller
Described by BBC review as “genuinely brilliant and simply stunning”, Adele’s second album 21 has proved to be just that.
After the release in 2011, it was deemed best album at the 2012 Grammy Awards and now it has managed to surpass Michael Jackson’s Thriller for best-selling UK album.
It has been reported that over 4,274,300 copies of the album have been sold in the UK, 500 more than Jackson’s 1982 classic. In addition, approximately 20,000 copies per week over the last four weeks have been sold.
Michael Jackson featured on Pepsi cans
Pepsi has a new face for the summer. In celebration of the 25th anniversary of Michael Jackson’s album Bad, the cola giant sought to feature the late king of pop on one million soda cans.
These new cans will be produced around the world as part of the company’s ‘Live for Now’ campaign. They also will be introducing limited-edition 16-ounce cans bearing the singer’s image.
In addition, Pepsi has collaborated with Sony Music and the Jackson estate to feature the singer in television ads and in creating new mixes of songs from Bad.
