Best Dressed Chicken 5K today
The final race in a three-part Best Dressed Chicken 5K series comes to a close today at the Hope Botanical Gardens, starting at 7:00 am.
Over 900 runners and walkers are expected to participate in the final event that has been hailed as a tremendous success by participants, sponsors and administrators since the first staging held in March of this year.
Horace Bury of Island Smile is the defending male champion after clocking an impressive
18:26 minutes in the second installment of the series in May of this year.
Female champion Karlene Blagrove of No Excuse will aim to defend her impressive win of 22:9 minutes. In the walking category, Nahum Robinson of Brijade Fitness Centre with a time of 32:2 minutes will find the going tough to defend his title. The female overall walk winner from the April’s second leg series is Catherine Stewart of the Bank of Jamaica Gators.
Her time of 35:57 minutes will be hard to beat come Sunday.
Race director, Alfred ‘Frano’ Francis, says the “Everyone’s a winner Best Dressed 5k road race series is a joyful synergy of healthy eating and exhilarating physical activity that brings out the best in everyone”.
The race series, which is in its second year, is geared towards celebrating running and fitness as well as allowing various health groups, corporate teams and individuals to track their progress over a series of races.
