Sean Kingston to release album
POP star Sean Kingston has bounced back from a near-fatal jet ski accident two years ago, and is preparing to release his third album.
Titled Back to Life, the set is slated to be released later this year and features collaborations with hip hop artistes T Pain, Nicki Minaj and TI
Although Back To Life does not have any reggae/dancehall content, the 22-year-old Kingston says Jamaican music is never far from his mind.
“Reggae music is what I grew up on, so it was no surprise that my music has a reggae undertone. Reggae was about story telling, which is what my music is about,” he told Splash.
He said plans are in the pipeline for songs with reggae acts.
“Nothing has been finalised yet, so I would rather not mention their names until the contracts are executed,” Kingston said.
Kingston was born Kisean Anderson in Miami, Florida but moved to Jamaica at age six. He is the grandson of Jamaican music producer and sound system operator, Lawrence ‘Jack Ruby’ Lindo, the man behind Burning Spear’s epic Marcus Garvey and Man In The Hills albums.
Kingston released his debut song Beautiful Girl in 2007. The single was an international hit, spending three weeks at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
His follow-up song, Me Love, was also a hit. In 2009, Kingston released his debut album, Tomorrow, followed by King of Kingz in 2011.
